Dear Members,
First I would like to congratulate all the members and non-members alike who participated in the Earth day clean up. It really looks great, both sides of the Lake were cleaned up and all the debris picked up by the town. If you would like to add your area to next years clean up and have some volunteers, bags will be provided and the town will pick up the debris. You can contact me to add your area to the list. Our fall members meeting will be held on Thursday December 6 at 7:00 pm at the Derry Salem Elks, downstairs. At that time we will hold our elections of officers for the year. We will also have three guest speakers. First will be Amy Smagula from NH DES who will explain the map of the lake that the DES made of all the weeds in the Lake and how to deal with them. Second will be Nancy Christie from the New Hampshire Lake Association, or Gary Springs from NH Des to discuss shoreline protection act, and what you are allowed to do to your shoreline. I have copies of their guideline to pass out to anyone interested. This should be very informative and everybody with waterfront property should attend. If you know a non-member who would like to join they can at this meeting or by mail. Third is Bill Scott CIP Director for the Town to discuss the progress we have made on the LAIP (Sewer and water project). I am happy to announce that the work on the Dam should begin by the time you get this letter or shortly thereafter. Included in this work is a new gate to be installed in the cofferdam that will improve the clarity of the Lake. As part of the project the lake will be dropped another 8-9 feet to facilitate this work. If you should experience loss of your water well contact Rodney Bartlett, the DPW Director at 890-2150, and he will arrange to install temporary water service as he is prepared for this situation. At this time I would like to apologize for not providing a spring meeting as I was experiencing some health problems and could not get the meeting arranged. Now that I have recovered it is back to business as usual. I was able to keep up the administrative part and also attend meetings to keep the Association in the town’s mind. This next year we hope to complete many project to serve the Lake area and if you have something specific in mind contact me. Now is the time I must remind you it is time to renew your membership. Membership fee is $30.00. You can mail it to MiIIviIle Lake Protective Association at 115 MiIIviIIe Circle, Salem, NH 0307, or you may do so at our members meeting. We need to form a strong membership as within the next few years we may be negotiating with the town over water rights just like Arlington Pond Association had to. The town will in the future be looking to increase water supply and may need our lake in the not too distant future, this effects everybody. We look forward to serving you at our meeting; any summer residents unable to attend may contact me for the reading material.
Sincerely,
